Upsala Ekeby Sweden. Hand painted ceramic vase. Flower motif. Bright floral decor with free-flowing, hand-painted flowers in blue, yellow and darker green, surrounded by a black outline. Black colour adds a lively drama. Lovely pastel green vase on pedestal. Looks decorative with or without flowers. There is an inscription on the bottom of the vase - Upsala Ekeby logo, Sweden, 1625 A. Pedestal foot, at the base of the black line, is a little rubbed. The vase is in good vintage condition. No chips or cracks.

Upsala Ekeby was founded in 1886 in Uppsala, Sweden originally producing tiles, then in 1910, Upsala-Ekeby hired designers for their production of household and art ceramics. However, it was not until later that the company had a short but brilliant art pottery era between the 1930s and 1960s. But in the late 1960s, sales dropped due to increasing international competition with the result that during the 1970s the factory declined and downscaled before finally closing in 1978.
